tuition / classes
My own training began with a solid grounding in observational drawing.
I stand by this and offer classes and courses which essentially develop these fundamental skills. Giving an understanding of the visual language of drawing and painting, and seeing - form, line, light, tone, volume, scale, perspective and colour etc… through a range of different drawing/painting experiences, subject matter and media.
My spirit to create is highly expressive and exploratory. Therefore in teaching, I strongly encourage and incorporate the freedom to express and experiment, with media, mark-making and approaches, as a key part of developing a solid skill base. Tailoring sessions to work with individual needs, both figuratively or abstractly.
Finding one’s creativity is a unique, moving, risky and dynamic experience, which evolves. I support this process passionately. With over twenty five years teaching experience, I offer what I have learnt and developed, technically, conceptually and creatively, with sensitivity and openness.
EXPERIENCED ART TUTOR
Tracy Burgess (BA, PGCE)
I am an experienced art educator who has been teaching creative skills to adults and sixteen to eighteen year olds in many different contexts for over 25 years. I have worked as a college lecturer in Further and Adult Education as well as the private sector working with groups or individuals on a one-to-one basis, running drawing and painting classes, field trips and workshops. Through my experience as both artist and teacher I have acquired a vast repertoire of skills to bring to the learning environment and assist learners to achieve and explore. Whether I’m helping someone who is embarking on a career in art and design, or assisting an individual to learn to draw or paint for leisure, perhaps for the first time, I love seeing creativity open and flourish.
